Trailways camp closely monitors viral infectious disease risks. The guidelines from the American Camp Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local health officials are followed. Infection Control, Health screening, Activities Safety monitoring practices are in place at every camp. Weather, including wind and river conditions are monitored. Emergency medical and evacuation policies are in place. Qualified and certificated staff are employed in required areas such as Water Safety.
Who is eligible?
We do not require, or select campers, based on a diagnosis, type of disability, or other characteristic. All adults with special needs are eligible to apply. The provider will match resources, staff supports and activities to each individual selected as part of a diverse pool of participants for each particular camp/retreat.
Is there a population priority?
Adults over the age of 18, living with family or a caregiver in need of respite support are a priority population. We have added specialized camp populations and priorities will be adjusted accordingly.

Management & General and Fundraising expenses for Trailways Camps, Inc. are about 25% of the total budget.
What is the cost for a camper?
Costs will vary based on the number of days in the camp session. For example: The cost for a 4 day, 3 night camp is $2800. A small non refundable registration fee is charged at the time of acceptance. Campers and families may make a voluntary donation toward the cost of camp as they are able. Most are very low income and are unable to pay. When sponsorship is unavailable from other sources Trailways Camps, Inc. assumes the cost.
What are the sources of financial support?
Trailways Camps, Inc. receives donations from the Miller family, devoted individual friends, followers, and community organizations with interest in providing these experiences for adults with special needs and respite for caregivers.
Voluntary donations are also received throughout the year from families and campers and friends of Trailways Camp.
